Who We Are

Turner Home Decor is a home and lifestyle blog. We write about decor ideas, DIY and home improvement projects, furniture picks, garden inspiration, and interior design. You’ll find us at https://turnerhomedecor.com.

We also accept article submissions from outside writers who want to share their own home and decor content with our readers. This page covers both regular visitors and anyone submitting an article to us.

Comments

Got something to say about a post? Leave a comment. Once you post one, we store the comment content itself, plus your name, email, and the IP address your device was using when you sent it. This is mostly for spam control and keeping conversations on the site genuine rather than automated.

Your email gets run through a system called Gravatar, which checks if it matches an existing Gravatar profile picture. If it does, that picture shows up next to your comment once it’s approved. We don’t control Gravatar directly, so if you want details on how they handle things on their end, their own policy page has the full breakdown.

Media

Planning to attach a photo to a comment or an article submission? One thing to watch for: phone cameras often save location coordinates inside the image file itself. Anyone who downloads that photo later could pull that location data out of it.

We don’t dig through your photos for this information, but it’s a good habit to strip location data from images before posting them anywhere online, not just on our site.

Cookies

Cookies are tiny bits of data your browser holds onto after you visit a page. We use a small number of them, mainly tied to the comment section.

If you type your name, email, and website into a comment box, you’ll usually see a checkbox letting you save that info for next time. Say yes, and a cookie remembers it for about a year, so you’re not re-typing everything on your next visit.

We also run a short-lived test cookie on our login-related pages just to confirm your browser can accept cookies in the first place. It has no personal data in it and vanishes the moment you shut your browser.

Beyond that, our site doesn’t load you up with tracking cookies for advertising purposes. If that ever changes, this page gets updated first.

Embedded Content From Other Websites

Every now and then, a post pulls in content from somewhere else, maybe a YouTube how-to video, a Pinterest board, or an Instagram snapshot of a stylish living room. When you see this kind of content on our page, you’re technically interacting with that outside platform, not us.

That means the platform hosting the embed can drop its own cookies, track how you interact with it, and behave exactly as it would if you’d visited their site directly, especially if you’re logged into an account there already. We’d suggest checking that platform’s own privacy page if you want the specifics.

Who We Share Your Data With

We’re not in the habit of selling your details or handing them off to marketing lists. A few practical exceptions exist though.

If you ever request a password reset for site access, your IP address is included in that email as a basic security check. Comments go through automated spam-screening before publishing, which involves the comment data being reviewed by that screening tool.

Article submissions are reviewed internally by our editorial team before anything gets published, and any contact details you provide as a submitting writer stay with us for editorial and communication purposes only.

How Long We Retain Your Data

Approved comments and the details attached to them stay in our system going forward. This way, if you comment again later, it doesn’t need to sit in a moderation queue since we already recognize you.

If you’ve submitted an article to us, we keep your submission and contact information on file for as long as needed to manage publication, follow-up communication, or future collaboration, unless you ask us to remove it sooner.

What Rights You Have Over Your Data

If you’ve left a comment or sent us an article, you’re free to ask for a copy of the personal data we have on you. Just get in touch, and we’ll put it together for you.

You can also ask us to delete your data. We’ll act on that request unless there’s a legitimate reason to keep certain records, such as ongoing editorial correspondence or basic security logs.

Where Your Data Is Sent

Comments submitted on the site may pass through an automated spam-filtering tool that operates from servers outside your home country. This is a fairly standard practice across blogs and small websites, used purely to keep spam under control.

Outside of that spam-check process, we don’t send your personal data abroad for resale, advertising, or profiling. Should that change down the line, we’ll update this page to reflect it clearly.
